Abstract Expressionist
How can one adequately convey the profound emotional complexity of love, experienced simultaneously as overwhelming passion and profound emptiness? This is the essence of my artistic expression, a testament to my unique ability as an abstract painter. My creations are tangible manifestations of my innermost thoughts, emotions, and very essence, embodying the present moment.
I work in acrylic on various sized canvases and cradled wood panels. I enjoy laying down paint using everything from brushes to my fingers to popsicle sticks to spatulas. Each painting involves a complex layering process.
When confronted with a blank canvas, I find myself in a state of suspended animation, between a sense of familiarity and the unknown. This uninhibited approach enables my intentions and the art to coalesce spontaneously. At times, I perceive myself as the vessel through which the art takes form.
I derive great pleasure from hearing others describe and interpret my work. These conversations reveal new aspects of my art through their unique perspectives and interpretations. Abstract art offers an inclusive experience, allowing viewers to perceive it in their own way. Appreciation fosters inspiration, and inspiration ignites creativity.
One of the most gratifying aspects of being an abstract artist is the sense of liberation I experience while painting. I am freed from the constraints of anxiety and self-doubt. I enter a realm devoid of right and wrong, where pure enjoyment and discovery reign supreme.
